Die-Cutting

OVERVIEW

Sterling Manufacturing offers die cutting for various foam applications. Die cutting is basically the stamping of foam parts using a patterned die on a machine called a punch press. The simplest way to think of it is like “cookie cutters”. A sheet of foam (polyurethane or polyethylene) is placed on the table of the press that holds the die (“cookie cutter”) and the pieces are punched out. Depending on the size of the finished part, a die can have several “cookie cutters” so that each punch of the press yields several pieces. A good example of die-cut products are gaskets and seals, however, die cutting is also used for many different products.
